March 8th, 1996
The official
Monks' Community of Dharma Chakra Centre, Rumtek, Sikkim, India, hereby
invite the representatives of Karma Kagyu Monasteries and Dharma Centres
in the Himalaya region, and throughout the world, for an International
Karma Kagyu Conference in New Dehli on March 28-30, 1996.
This invitation is addressed
to those Karma Kagyu institutions which have not been actively engaged
in the violence and slander campaigns which have taken place around the
Karmapa issue.
It is requested that each country
or region sends only one or two representatives.
This meeting is intended to shed light upon the events surrounding the
Karmapa issue and to be an exchange of information, touching topics such
as:
1. A presentation by K. Shamar Rinpoche on his recognition of Karmapa
Thaye Dorje as the 17th incarnation of H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa.
2.
A report on the course of events at Rumtek Monastery related to the Karmapa
issue, by the Karmapa's resident monks.
3. The continuation of the Karmapa's activity worldwide. Due to
the frequent use of Rinpoches as a means to manipulate followers during
recent years, we have preferred not to involve the Karma Kagyu Rinpoches
in this meeting.
We look forward to your participation in this most important event.
With best regards Umze Ngedon
Representative of Rumtek Monks' Community
